PhD. For the first ten years of Andy's career he was an academic at the University of Delaware, Yale University and U.C. Irvine before joining New Zealand company Genesis Research and Development Corporation Ltd. After seven years in research and senior management positions at Genesis, Andy moved to Fonterra where he held a variety of senior positions in research strategy, venture investment and most recently as Chief Scientist. 

During his time at Fonterra, Andy was a Director and Chairman of Lactopharma, a joint venture company owned by Fonterra and ÐÓ°ÉAPPUniServices Ltd, and he served as Fonterra's Board representative on a number of new spin-out companies. Andy holds a BSc in Biology from Rhodes College and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware.

Will Charles has been General Manager Commercialisation since 2005. During this time UniServices has transacted over 185 licensing deals, started 31 companies and raised over $80 million in venture and seed funding for these companies, and has successfully exited a number of these. 

He set up the TransTasman Commercialisation Fund, a A$30 million seed fund with four Australian Universities and sat on the Investment Committee of the fund.  He is a director of a number of start-up companies.  He also set up and is responsible for the direction of Return on Science which is part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Economic Development’s Commercialisation Partner Network. He has been a speaker at a number of international Technology Transfer events including the Association of Technology Managers in the US (AUTM) and BioEurope.

Previously, Will has had extensive senior commercial experience in businesses in Europe, Asia and New Zealand where he has held executive positions at a number of companies including Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Celltech and Wolters Kluwer.

Toni is the Executive Director, Business Units at UniServices and is currently also filling the Director role for Future Learning Solutions.   She is a senior executive and director with over 25 years’ experience in global organisations, including global leadership roles in Orica and Fonterra as well as in the international management consultancy, KPMG. Over the years she has led the design and redesign of strategy, operating models and efficiency initiatives that have achieved major business transformation, performance and profitability improvements. Her experience spans M&A, complex value chains, cultures and geographies with a major focus on Agribusiness, Industrial, Food, Building, Resources and Energy, and Start up and Professional services sectors.  Her focus is building and growing the capability of organisations, the people – customers and the communities involved. 

Toni is a proven leader in technology commercialisation, digital innovation and transformation with major strengths in harnessing technology to add value to people and businesses in a way that creates better experiences but that also saves time and reduces cost. She is an early adopter of iterative, agile and human-centred design to achieve alignment and adoption of change within organisations, across stakeholders and teams.

In her spare time Toni is involved in pro-bono work to grow capability and support in vulnerable areas - her passion for creating possibility for all a key motivator every day.

Greg joined UniServices in 2019 as Executive Director for Strategic Growth. He has responsibility for the Business Development, Funds Advisor, Contracts and Growth and Researcher Development and Education Services Teams in New Zealand and the University of ÐÓ°ÉAPPInnovation Institute situated in Hangzhou, China. He has 25+ years’ experience in executive management and a successful track record of strong leadership, strategy development, business growth, and in leading significant organisational change. Greg has a PhD in immunology and has worked in the biotech industry, universities and most recently in the Crown Research Institute, AgResearch. Throughout his career he has been focused on creating partnerships between investors and researchers to resolve some of the bigger issues facing society. In addition, Greg has held a number of governance roles for over 10 years on the Boards of commercial and not-for-profit organisations including Allergy New Zealand, Grasslands Innovation Limited, Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium, B+LNZ Genetics, Velvet Antler Research New Zealand and Biopolymer Network.
