About UniServices
UniServices champions research and ideas with the power to change the world. From seeking out and bringing together partners in academic institutions, industry and government to build new knowledge and solutions through research through to whakatupu (nurturing) and commercialising the ideas and intellectual property that arise from the ’s great minds, we act as the kaihono (those who join and link people to people, and people to projects) firmly entrenched in the ecosystem that bridges the world of academia with business, government and our communities.
Wholly owned by the University of Auckland, we are a not-for-profit, stand-alone company that provides support to researchers Ìýby helping them secure funding and connections that can amplify and grow their endeavours. Having again taken the number one spot in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings for the second year in a row, the researchers and academics at the University of ÐÓ°ÉAPPare leaders in building a better future and we are proud to be a part of what they do.

What makes UniServices distinctive?
What sets UniServices apart from othersÌýis our independence. This gives us the mandate and the drive to build a better future by looking for new research opportunities locally and internationally, and by accelerating commercialisation of ideas out of research to do good in Aotearoa and in the world. We have even developed unique ways for nurturing this process to get the best results, making us much more than just a technology-transfer office.
One thing that makes us distinctive is the growing portfolio of business units and projects that we use to translate cutting-edge knowledge into impact. Built on evidenced-based research, these offerings are recognised in their own names as leaders in their field, delivering social, health and economic benefits through education, public health, innovation and informing public policy.
We also manage the University of ÐÓ°ÉAPPInventors’ Fund, which is a pre-seed and seed stage investment fund for transforming university intellectual property and research into high-growth global companies. This is a key tool in our successful commercialisation of start-ups , alongside our investment committeesÌý(named Return On Science ) that we make available nation-wide for research institutions and businesses with commercial ideas, as well as the student investment committees (named Momentum ) that we have built up and down the country to open doors and develop Ìýcapability for students on both sides of the investment table.
Having got our start in 1988, today we continue to Partner with Purpose, Pursue with Passion and Create the Future by bringing ideas to life. Ìý
Honoa te tangata ki te tangata, te tangata ki te taiao, te tangata ki te rangahau, rangahaua ki whai hua.Ìý
(Linking people to people, people to the world around us, people to research, research that brings ideas to life).
